L-PRF

What is L-PRF?

Dr. Donald Steinberg is a board-certified periodontist in Bedford, TX, who has essential skills in regenerative medicine. Throughout the length of his career, Dr. Steinberg has seen patients lose teeth from bone loss, difficult extractions, infections, and from waiting to see a dentist until it is too late to save their teeth. He has a strong desire to help his patients change their oral health for the better with a L-PRF (Leukocyte Platelet Rich Fibrin) treatment using your own leukocytes, platelets, and fibrin. This new method that uses your own growth factors to carry regenerative factors to a defect is simple, fast, and economical for the patient, and Dr. Steinberg at DFW Implant Team is 1 of only 2 doctors in the DFW Metro area that provides L-PRF. We would love to discuss this cutting-edge growth factor harvesting technology that enhances wound healing with you at a consultation or your next appointment. Call today to learn more.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared for approval the Intaspin™ System as a safe and efficient process for grafting by providing a rapid preparation from a small sample of your blood taken during your procedure. Scientifically speaking, the new fibrin clot made with this technology will play a major role in the PRF membrane, which will safeguard the grafted biomaterials and fragments of PRF to act as connectors between bone particles. The incorporation of this fibrin system into the regenerative site enables cellular relocation, particularly for endothelial cells necessary for new blood vessel creation (also known as neo-angiogenesis), vascularization, and endurance of the graft. When the platelet cytokines (PDGF, TGF-B, and IGF-1) are released gradually as the fibrin matrix is reabsorbed, it will provide you with a continuous method of healing. It is very important to have the leukocytes and cytokines present in the fibrin network so they can play a significant role in the self-regulation of inflammatory and infectious phenomena within the grafted material.

These growth factors are regenerative in nature and enhance both bone and soft tissue regeneration, which expedites your healing process, minimizing your discomfort, and increases your resistance to infection in the mouth. At the time of your L-PRF treatment, the growth factors are processed in the office in 12 – 18 minutes, and delivered to the area of treatment with minimal post-surgical discomfort.

Give our office a call to schedule your appointment to see if L-PRF is the right option for you. You may be surprised! L-PRF in the Centrifuge is a specialized procedure to help with the healing process so that you can regrow and restore a healthy regeneration (using your own leukocytes, platelets, and fibrin) to boost healing. We look forward to your call.

What are the benefits of L-PRF?
