Single Tooth Implants (Implanted Crown) – Fort Worth & Bedford, TX

20 Services ( View All )

Overview

Dr. Donald J. Steinberg has been in practice for 32+ years, and has received extensive training in implantology. Through continuing education, he stays abreast of the most current information on implant dentistry, which includes single tooth implants. If you have lost a single tooth, or had to have it extracted from your mouth, a single tooth implant can restore the form and function of the missing tooth. Also known as an implanted crown, this dental implant will look and feel like a natural tooth, but will provide more stability and prevent deterioration of the jawbone. At DFW Implant Team in Bedford, TX, our board-certified periodontist Dr. Steinberg uses only the highest quality dental implants with custom-made crowns to give his patients optimal results.

Reasons for Tooth Implants

  • To replace a lost tooth

  • To preserve bone socket

  • To preserve surrounding bone

  • To improve appearance of smile

  • To improve chewing and speaking

Procedure

The first step in placing a single tooth implant is to put the screw that will replace the tooth root into the jawbone, which will be covered by a temporary crown. Once the implanted screw is in place, the implant is given 2 – 6 months to fully bond with the bone and tissue for the most secure anchor. Once the implant is ready, the doctor will remove the temporary crown and attach the custom-made crown to the dental implant. A well-made crown will blend into the patient’s natural teeth and restore the form and function of the teeth.

AfterCare

To keep the new dental implant in its best condition, patients should maintain a good oral health routine, including brushing their teeth twice a day, flossing, and visiting the dentist at least twice a year for a dental exam and cleaning. Patients who smoke are encouraged to quit after their implant is in place since smoking weakens the bones and may lead to implant failure. Patients should also avoid chewing on hard foods, including ice and hard candy to avoid breaking the dental crown.

Every Tooth Matters

While a single missing tooth may not seem like a big deal to some, the lost tooth root can lead to the deterioration of the jawbone and cause problems with other teeth. A single tooth dental implant improves the appearance of the smile and also makes it easier for the patient to speak and chew. Call today for an evaluation and consultation with Dr. Steinberg.
